We had a two day drive from Muskoka to Lake of the Woods where we stayed for just over two weeks.
North of Superior on a rainy night after driving from Muskoka we arrived in the small hamlet of Rossport, Ontario at around 10:30 pm. The Rossport Inn consists of the inn itself plus several additional cabins. The inn was originally build by the CPR in 1884 and the tracks run right in front of our cabin. Sometimes nothing beats a post card.
Muskoka chairs in front of our cabin are shown above and our little cabin itself below. The bed was raised about 1-1/2 foot off the floor, which was good because we could put Sasha’s bed beneath ours. It would not have fit anywhere else in the cabin.
Below was taken by Janet while out walking Sasha. We are looking across the tracks to the cabins (in the middle background) and the inn (to the right).
For those who are not familiar with the Riehle’s Island on Lake of the Woods, it was originally purchased by A.J. Riehle (Nick’s grandfather) in or around 1946.
Here is a link to the location and a satellite view of the island.
We caught and ate fish pretty well every day, in fact we probably threw back a greater weigh of fish than we ate.

We also did some chores, including bringing 4 large solar storage batteries from Sioux Narrows by boat, up the hill, and installed them in the 12 volt array.
Sasha was a busy girl, mostly chasing sticks:
